Summary of Programs:
The Accessory Design program provides the basics in art and general studies courses, helping you to understand design elements such as color theory, materials, and trends. You’ll evolve your skills and design accessories such as jewelry and other fun and functional accessories. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment such as accessory designers or fashion designers.
Advertising is a creative profession within the commercial realm. In the Advertising program, you’ll study art direction, copywriting, and account supervision – and you’ll learn both the creative and business side of advertising. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment such as account manager, copywriter, or assistant art director.
In the Audio Production program, you’ll study audio recording, live sound reproduction, audio for video, and broadcast production. You will record, mix, and produce audio in analog and digital formats while gaining an understanding of what it takes to succeed in the audio industry. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment such as audio engineer, radio producer, assistant sound technician, promoter, or sound engineer.
In the Computer Animation program, you’ll learn the skills needed to bring characters to life using computer software. Computer Animation is part acting, part storytelling, and part visual art. You’ll study methods to create realistic movement in 3-D digital environments, and collaborate within a team environment to gain practical experience. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment such as 3-D character animator, computer animator, modeler, and storyboarder.
In the Fashion Design program, you’ll develop skills in design and patternmaking. You’ll learn both traditional and computer generated design as you develop your own sense of design and style. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment such as costume designer, assistant fashion buyer, fashion designer, or seamstress.
In the Fashion Merchandising program, you’ll study the business that moves the world’s fashions from designers’ showrooms to retail sales floors, and finally into the hands of consumers. This fast-paced industry revolves around individuals who exhibit strong business skills and an eye for style. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment such as fashion coordinator and stylists in retail department stores, boutiques, wholesalers, importers, designers, and manufacturers.
The Film program helps you to develop the creative principles of narrative filmmaking, as well as the culture, discipline, and professional protocols of the business. You’ll write, shoot, direct, and edit several narrative films in collaboration with your peers, under the guidance of faculty with direct experience in the film industry. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment such as producing feature films, shorts, music videos, and commercials.
The Film & Digital Production program provides the basics to help aspiring videographers understand nuances of digital filmography. You’ll gain knowledge of shooting, directing, and editing digital pieces using industry-related software and equipment. In the Graphic Design program, you’ll study design, typography, and color theory. Industry-specific software is utilized to help you learn to create everything from logos and posters to packaging, Web sites, and corporate identity packages. In the Interior Design program, you’ll study the design, safety, and usability issues of creating the spaces that we live, work, and play within. Coursework focuses on space planning, traffic patterns, and the colors, surfaces, and furnishings that make surroundings comfortable and livable. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment such as draftsperson, facilities planner, interior designer/decorator, or space planner.
The Photography program teaches you composition, lighting, and equipment use. Darkroom techniques, color, and design are explored both on location and in a studio. You’ll develop business skills as you fine-tune your eye for detail. Both digital and film will be utilized. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment such as commercial photographer, digital photographer, industrial photographer, photo lab technician, or photojournalist.
In the Visual & Entertainment Arts program, you will build your artistic talents through paint, canvas, and clay. Coursework focuses on drawing, figure drawing, two- and three-dimensional design, and painting. Based on an understanding of the history and tradition of painting, the Visual & Entertainment Arts program will help you to create work with depth and resonance. In the Visual Arts program, you’ll focus on painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, and installation art. The program encourages you to combine media to redefine traditional boundaries. The Visual Effects & Motion Graphics program helps you to learn how to use your creativity to produce attention-grabbing communication design for film, television, and the Web. Visual effects are responsible for movie trailers, opening film credits, television commercials, animated network identities, and short promos. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment such as production assistant, assistant designer, visual effect specialist, or broadcast design assistant.
In the Web Design & Interactive Media (formerly Interactive Media Design) program, you’ll focus on interface design, interactivity, visual design, database design, dynamic Web content design, technology, and information design and employ creative solutions across all Web-related mediums. You’ll learn skills that will enable you to create accessible, engaging interactions via Web sites and other interactive mediums. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment in positions such as interactive designer, animator, special effects artist, and computer artist.
